Arrest: Livingston County Sheriff's Police apprehend suspected truck thieves

Livingston County Sheriff’s Police were led on a chase after receiving information from Grundy County officials regarding a stolen vehicle Monday afternoon.

According to a release from Livingston County Sheriff Tony Childress, he told LCSD units on patrol that he was notified by Grundy County law enforcement officials that a stolen vehicle was headed for Livingston County. The vehicle was a white 2019 Ford F250 pickup truck, which was observed near Saunemin. Childress said in the release that a stop attempt was was made.

However, patrol units reported that as the vehicle came to a stop south of Saunemin, two occupants got out and ran on foot away from the vehicle. A foot chase took place but didn’t last long as both were captured in a field south of Saunemin. Arrested were Ava Noel P.

Barchak, 18, Palos Hills, and Reno G. McMahan, 20, East Moline. They were charged with possession of stolen vehicle, speeding — 104 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone — and aggravated fleeing/eluding police.

Childress also said that additional charges might be made against the two.

The sheriff commended county patrol, Pontiac Police and the Livingston County Proactive Unit for providing assistance in making the stop.
