OPP pull transport truck with five bad tires off the road

PICKLE LAKE, Ont. — Ontario Provincial Polkce say a recent incident in the Pickle Lake area shows why they have a zero tolerance when it comes to unsafe commercial motor vehicles. Officers responding to a report of a disabled transport truck found that five of its tires were unfit for the road. They ordered the tractor trailer taken out of service until the tires were replaced.

OPP also charged the driver with two Highway Traffic Act offences – driving a commercial vehicle with a major defect in it or in a trailer, and failing to enter a defect in the daily inspection report.

A spokesperson said that, heading into the winter season and the opening of seasonal ice roads, police expect to see a considerable increase in trucking on roads in the Pickle Lake and Mishkeegogamang First Nation areas.

“Officers will remain vigilant for road safety in the upcoming months,” she said.
