Transport Canada Allows Use of Pleasure Craft to Travel from Newfoundland to Labrador

An exception has been made to Transport Canada’s guidelines to allow pleasure craft to travel from the island of Newfoundland to Labrador. The changes were made with local community members in mind, creating a way for them to access the Strait of Belle Isle and Labrador Coast. Labrador MP Yvonne Jones announced the exemption on her Twitter page yesterday.

The regulations were initially brought in by the federal government on June 1 to protect northern regions.
