Chester woman dies after being hit by a truck on A41 Whitchurch Road

A woman from Chester has died after being struck by a heavy goods vehicle. Emergency services were scrambled to reports of a collision between a HGV and a pedestrian on the A41 Whitchurch Road, near Broxton, at around 5am today (Friday August 7). The pedestrian, a woman from the Chester area, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the HGV, a 49-year-old man from Beechwood, Merseyside, is uninjured. The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and the closure was lifted shortly after 2pm.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and police are appealing for information. A Cheshire Constabulary spokesman said: "Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to get in touch.

The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid the investigation."
