Jaipur: Civil engineering students to help transport department to map roads
JAIPUR: Transport department will take help of civil engineering students in every district for the road mapping, identification of black spots, faulty curves and other issues related to the roads.
Their suggestions would be taken on record by the district-level committee headed by district collector. The transport department is mulling giving some stipend to these students.
In a meeting held at the transport office, a policy was made in this regard to take the help of the civil engineering students in the road mapping and other things related to the road engineering.
"We will identify one college and its students from the civil engineering stream in every district. These students would be asked to go for road mapping, identification of black spots, faulty curves and other issues related to the road engineering," said Rajesh Yadav, transport commissioner while talking to TOI on Sunday.
He added that these students would work under the supervision of the district transport committee head by the district collector.
"Already various units in the government are on the task of doing this job of road mapping.
But the expertise of the students pursuing civil engineering would certainly facilitate us," he added.
In the meeting it was decided to identify colleges across the state in every district.
"These students would also be given special training of road audit and would also be given certificates.
Also, we would try to give some stipend for the work they do for us," Yadav added.
